Mel Gibson – Born in 1956

You may not have known this, but even though Mel Gibson is an American actor, he grew up in Sydney, so we can claim him to be one of our own! He achieved stardom with the 1979 sleeper hit, Mad Max and later, the Lethal Weapon franchise. In 1995, Gibson made, directed and acted in Braveheart, and kept his winning streak going with Apocalypto and The Passion of the Christ. Despite his many controversial actions and comments, Mel has been able to remain one of the biggest and most successful filmmakers in Hollywood.
