1987 – Cecilia Bolocco from Chile
Cecelia Bolocco became the first Chilean to win Miss Universe in 1987, being chosen from 67 other contestants from all over the world. After a year, she went back home and became a TV journalist for CNN, or rather, the Spanish version of it and hosted lifestyle shows there. This work led her to interview Carlos Menem, the former Argentine President, who headed the country for a decade until 1999. Cecelia ended up falling for him even though she was 35 years his junior. They wed in 2001, had a son, split in 2007 and divorced in 2011.
