The Queen of England Who Also Had a Phantom Pregnancy
Here’s an interesting piece of history that not many people may know about. In 1955, after many years of being married and praying for a male child, Queen Mary I of England was finally with child! The pregnancy went well, and all the members awaited her due date, as the heir to the English throne was to be born.
She went into labor and the bells were tolled to signify that the child was born, but in reality there was no birth. It was an embarrassing phantom pregnancy since Mary had even said that she had felt the baby move. With no heir born, she was forced to give up the British throne to her half-sister, Queen Elizabeth I.
