28. Myanmar
Myanmar has the second largest active defense force in Southeast Asia with around 0.35 million troops, that grabbed all the headlines when the country’s military launched a coup in 2021 and detailed elected premier Aung San Suu Kyi and her politicians. This direct military rule is known a Junta, and the military leader has declared himself the Prime Minister of the defense country. Myanmar spent $2.11 billion on their military in 2021, which was actually a 15% decline from their previous year’s budgetary allowance.
