Don’t Go In There

This hole in the middle of the waterbody is ominously called the Kraken Hole (funnily enough, it’s also known as the Glory Hole.) Just looking at it makes us uncomfortable, like it’s some nightmarish portal to the underworld which will transport its unsuspecting victims to the deepest depths of hell! Okay, let’s stop being dramatic. It’s just a man-made wonder which is an artificial spillway. It drains the excess water from the California reservoir, so that there is no flooding whenever the reservoir becomes too full.
