What you see before you is the Al Qudra Desert in UAE and it lies just 40 minutes from Dubai’s city centre. It lies in a Desert Conservation Reserve and is a desert oasis which is a hit with the tourists. Deserts are just fascinating and not a lot of us have experienced it fully. But it is also a harsh and deadly place, which is why when a tree does manage to stay alive in the sand long enough, it needs to be protected. So when they were building a road in the desert and they found a lone tree in their path, they just diverted the road around it, instead of cutting it down.
