Broken hearts, broken bats

This New York Yankees player got more than he bargained for when he chose his trusty baseball bat that day. There have been many players in the past who have thrown their bats to the ground and broken them into two after being frustrated and angry. However, baseballs are known to break and splinter at the thin base, when the velocity of the ball and the force applied is just right. Of course, one would assume that it does not come back to hit you in the face!
