Julia Gillard – Born in 1961
Julia Gillard took charge as the 27th Australian Prime Minister in 2010 and served in office until 2013. She was also the deputy prime minister previously and was central to managing Australia’s economy very well during the global financial crisis. She also has the distinction of being the first woman Prime Minister of the country. In 2012, Gillard won over many hearts for her speech in parliament on the treatment of women in public and professional life, especially because she was bullied and had misogynistic comments passed about her by her own peers in office!
