Hugh Hefner – U.S. Infantry
The late Hugh Hefner isn’t a man we’d picture serving with the army, but he enlisted in 1944. Hefner was fresh out of school at the time, but he never made it to any battlefields. He offered his service as an infantry clerk.
Hefner also lent his penmanship to articles published in a military newspaper. Hefner enrolled in university after completing his service, and in 1949 he earned a degree in psychology. In 2017, at the age of 91, Hefner passed away from sepsis sparked by an E.coli infection.
