Willie Nelson – U.S. Air Force

Willie Nelson enlisted to serve with the U.S. Air Force soon after finishing school in 1950. He spent about nine months in service before earning a discharge owing to back problems. Nelson studied agriculture, but he never graduated from Baylor University because he dropped out to pursue music.

Nelson held off jobs to get by, including working as a nightclub bouncer, tree trimmer, and selling bibles door-to-door. He soon made strides in the music industry in the ’60,s and he achieved critical success with Shotgun Willie released in 1973.
