1974 – Amparo Muñoz from Spain
Amparo Muñoz was the Spanish beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe in 1974 and would become the first and only from the country to win the crown. However, she was forced to give up the title soon after winning, as she refused to go a tour of Japan. However, no successor wanted to fill her vacant shoes, nor did the organization assign anyone to it, so the crown just sat there till the next pageant. Muñoz became an actress and was known for her party lifestyle. She passed away in 2011 after suffering from a brain aneurysm.
