Something Doesn’t Add Up

The nurse led Paul to the doctor’s office where he finally revealed the source of everyone’s confusion. The doctor and hospital staff could not find any piece of paperwork or a single record regarding his girlfriend’s pregnancy.

It took Paul a moment and a half to fully understand what the doctor was saying to him. How could there be no record of a pregnancy, and that too… of such a unique one? He, and even his friends and family, had dropped off Barbara at the hospital for her regular checkups many times. Why would she deceive them?
