MC Hammer – U.S. Navy
Stanley Kirk Burrell is better known as MC Hammer. Long before he reached the heights of commercial success as a rapper, Burrell was a military man. Burrell had his sights on a professional baseball career, but he gave it up after a failed tryout with the San Francisco Giants.
He would then undertake undergraduate studies, but he got discouraged and instead chose to join the U.S. Navy. For three years, he was part of the Patrol Squadron (PATRON FOUR SEVEN). Burrell was an aviation storekeeper stationed at the Mountain View-based NAS Moffett Field.
