Tony Bennett – U.S. Army
Anthony Benedetto is an acclaimed musician, under the name Tony Bennett, a painter, and a former military man. Bennett was drafted in 1944, and he reported to Fort Robinson Fort Dix for his basic training. He trained as an infantry rifleman.
Bennett often found himself on kitchen patrol (KP duty) because he faced a sergeant who wasn’t particularly fond of him. He joined the 255th Regiment unit as a replacement infantryman stationed in France and later in Germany. Bennett left the army in 1946 and returned to the U.S.
