Kris Kristofferson – U.S. Army
Kris Kristofferson enlisted after heeding to pressure from his family. He became a captain, rising to the rank from his initial commissioning as a second lieutenant. Kristofferson attended Fort Rucker for flight training, and he started piloting helicopters.
On top of that, Kristofferson also completed his Ranger School course. Kristofferson served with the 9th Infantry Division in the ’60s. It was at the time that he formed a band. Kristofferson was offered the opportunity to teach English literature, after completing his service in 1965, at West Point, but he declined the offer.
