Arnold Schwarzenegger – Austrian Army

Arnold Schwarzenneger holds many titles, including being a former Mr. Universe and the former governor of California. When he was 18, in 1965, he joined the Austrian Army as it was customary for all males at the time.

Schwarzenegger even took a week-long break to participate in the Junior Mr. Europe competitions. Winning couldn’t save him from a few days spent in military prison for going AWOL. After putting in the recommended year-long service, Schwaznegger continued participating in bodybuilding contests. Schwarzenegger moved to the U.S. in 1968, and by 1970 he had launched his acting career.
