Clint Eastwood – U.S. Army
During the Korean War, Clint Eastwood responded to the call of duty. He joined the U.S. Army as a Fort Ord lifeguard. Eastwood always referenced the Korean war in later conversations hoping people would think that he had been in combat.
Eastwood went through a life-threatening ordeal during his service when a Douglas AD bomber he rode in crashed after running out of fuel. Eastwood and the pilot who had crashed into the ocean close to Point Reyes swam two miles, on a raft, to safety. It was at Fort Ord that Eastwood got connections to Hollywood.
